Chapter 10; - The Finale
I hit the floor, no soft landing, just, ouch! My back is as stiff as a board. Well, that’s my luck I suppose. Oh well, while I was healing it gave me plenty of time to look around and see if I could find anything useful. It was a dark cave; it had the same floor as up the top, just dark purple cave rock walls and roof.
The path looked like it had been blown up several times. It was dark obviously because there was no light apart from a tiny candle light on the wall. The cave went on for ages, then it went round a corner, I could see light reflecting on the opposite wall the cave turns through. I’m grateful that the drop I had just come down wasn’t really big, because I’d be in extreme pain. I lifted off my back, getting up was like trying to oil a rusty hinge with your arms tied behind your back, which I’d say is pretty hard.
Once I got to my feet, it felt a bit better, I walked around a bit and saw some white footprints that only just showed up in the poor light conditions, I got out the forensic data analysing kit that all Adrarift agents get to have, I took a sample of the footprint, it was made in some sort of floury substance, I put it in the forensic analyser and it proved my theory, but it was more than I thought it was.
‘Tetranitrocarbazole,’ I said quietly to myself, ‘and that’s bad, either someone likes chemistry, or I’ve just walked straight in to a bomb factory. Maybe it was what Mr Big Stone Head propelled himself out of this cave with?’ I said, if only I knew the truth.
I ran forward, I knew it was the only way I could go on. Ran round the corner and I had exited the cave. It led me in to some sort of hospital. No one here, just the cave joins in to the hospital, and it’s… empty. I ran left, I could see purple, pulsating, bigger and smaller, blinding me, and I walked further in and hit a switch on the wall. The lights turned on, lowering the blinding purple things so I could see them. I found what I had come here for.
Spirits.
There were loads of spirits, in loads of glass chambers, similar to those like I was in, just smaller. There were millions, going on from corridor to corridor, leading left and right. I noticed on my right, a computer. I ran towards it and plugged the rift manipulator in. I hacked in to the system memory and found this, ’43 - Jimzhh29’. Weird, why has my number gone up one? Anyway, I hacked further in and activated ‘Spirit Portal 1’ whatever it is. I found my way in to a map of all the corridors containing spirits, and there was a flashing red dot, I stared at it for a moment, before I leapt to my feet and ran.
What was the chance of that being my spirit? Fairly big, considering I highlighted my entry, so I absolutely legged it round corridor, left, left, right, left, right, right, left, right until I ran down the final corridor, coat flapping in the wind I was generating by running. This was what I had waited for, for two years. No one could stop me.
There it was, I stared at one glass orb with a flashing light, there it was, my spirit. I didn’t want to release it right now, just look at it, it was magnificent. It was purple with purple tails, floating around. I couldn’t look at it any longer, I hit the red button and sirens sounded, I ran back to where the computer was, a stone face, similar to the one in the Zulag test ages ago in the Rift House was on the wall, it started flashing purple, I ran up to it.
It felt like my back broke, I fell to my knees and my chest ripped forward. No control of myself. I let out a sharp sigh of pain, and then the purple spirit came out the stone Zulag face and straight in to my chest. Once it had finished, I flopped to the floor, and whacked my head on a rather large rock.
After what must have been ten minutes I woke, thank God I wasn’t somewhere else, I didn’t fancy another wild goose chase, my encounter with three rocks so far hasn’t been good for my health, a big Rock Gary head, a spirit rock, and a… large, head bashing rock! I stood up, confused, I ran back towards the computer in a mess, leapt up to its console, and selected all the spirits, I looked for a button to release them back to that body temple I was in earlier, but there wasn’t one. I left the console to find something to release them, I pulled every lever in many combinations, pressed every button I could see, no use. I stood and looked at the walkways of spirits, I turned round. A large red button with a plastic covering lured me in, or maybe it was the big plaque saying ‘Main Release’ gave it away.
I pulled up the plastic covering, and hit that button so hard like it was the last thing I would ever do, hard enough to assure me I had definitely pressed it. I heard louder sirens, lights flashed all across the room; I heard the sounds of people breathing out. I dropped the plastic covering and turned around, the top of their orbs span around, and the spirits flew out the top of their orbs, and out the large tunnel leading up in the middle spirit walkway, a flood of purple spirits leaked through the tunnel, it looked beautiful.
‘That’s it spirits, live free, go back to your bodies, your safe now.’ I said, knowing they couldn’t hear me, no ears.
A different alarm, like on a police-car sounded, I looked right again where the computer was, flashing red.
‘WARNING!
MELTDOWN IN 20 SECONDS!’
That flashed on the screen, counting down, when I had noticed it and it had kicked in, I ran right, straight down the corridor, the other way in the hospital themed room, there was a ladder, I quickly climbed it, I was counting how long was left in my head, fourteen seconds, I hoped this was the only obstacle I had to get around to escape. But wait a minute, why did releasing a couple hundred spirits trigger a meltdown? But if I know anything, never ignore a meltdown message. Eight seconds left to climb this ladder, okay. I wanted to get out of this alive, but if I can’t, why bother trying?
I still didn’t care what I was thinking, I was near the top, if I had a chance of escape, I should take that chance. I got to the top, no new room, just a high up ledge; I climbed on and in the wall was a large air vent system tunnel, but massive! Must be used for more than air venting. I could fit in it by rolling! I recalled my count, I was on four, okay, that’s… short. I began thinking clever. The corridors would be in ‘meltdown’ first, so I waited.
Three… Two… One.
Back at Club Penguin however, all evil had broke loose.
Sara was on top of the Nightclub, she had got up their from the hatch hidden in the Dance Lounge roof, there was a large red and black box with the word ‘Kendal Property’ engraved in it.
‘Aha! Kendalites! I have information!’ Emily yelled down the inter-com, giving Sara a heart attack. ‘Bah! Can’t you… not deliver such a shock next time?’ Sara asked. ‘If only there was a next time, Kendalites, a creature originating from the planet Kendal.’ Emily replied. ‘He’s an alien? The General and all these “Kendal” myths are alien?’ Sara wondered. ‘Yes, it’s all a hoax, and that means danger, uh oh, someone wants you…’ Emily said, but couldn’t continue her sentence.
‘Hey! Team, all of you, get to the Town, now.’ The General said to the whole team who were clueless. ‘Why, what have you done?’ Will asked. ‘Oh you’ll see, get there, pronto.’ The General continued. ‘Why?’ Sara asked. ‘Well if you don’t you’ll miss the bonfire.’ He said. ‘What do you mean?’ Sara wondered.
There was no reply. Sara, Will and James stood in the town centre, looking around, expecting something to happen.
My journey wasn’t a smooth one either, as soon as my count had finished, I leapt in to the air vent, and rolled in.
‘Woaha! No sense of gravity! I am floating through the tunnel!’ I yelled, and got only an echo replying.
The air vent twisted around corners, and then went vertical, but for some reason, I just flew up! Like my gravity lead out of the planet! I heard the sound of burning, and then I turned my head round, still rising up, and I looked down, I saw fire rising up through the chute, getting closer to me, I felt a bit hot, toasty in fact. When I looked up, I saw no end, just a tunnel with fire getting closer to me.
‘Please! Oh I’m going to be roasted, any last words me? No I don’t think so me two.’ I said, sarcastically to myself.
I whipped out my staff, aimed, ice! Ice Blast coming your way fire! The fire came to a halt, and the ice blast and the fire were having a battle, I only launched one, so when I flipped my staff on to burst, I put the fire out with no problem! I looked up again, no sight of the exit yet, but then, I looked back down, about ten times the amount of fire came pelting around the bend below and right up to me, Ice Blast wouldn’t work! The fire just melted it and ploughed on.
The fire was practically touching me; I tried to twist different ways to ‘spread’ the heat round instead of setting my coat alight, the fire hadn’t touched me properly, but then… Yes the fire hit me and started my coat on fire, but then, I shot out the corner of the chute, and I hit ground! I rolled a couple of metres which put the fire on my coat out, it was only a bit of smoke off it. I was up the top of some hill, and then some fire leaked out the chute, but died straight after, thank God.
The island of Club Penguin needed me, right now. If only I was there.
So three lost faces, who were meant to know exactly what to do were clueless once again, if only they knew what was about to happen.
‘Ready for the bonfire?’ The general asked. ‘Tell us what you mean!’ James demanded. ‘Literally?’ The general questioned, knowing he’d never get a reply because…
BANG!
The Nightclub exploded, burst in to flames, fire scorching the wires for the neon lights and shorting the bulbs, shortly spreading the fire to the Coffee Shop; it melted the door hinges which fell off, the sheet of glass in the window smashed down, the Gift Shop got touched by the fire, spreading right down, and all the clothes in the Gift Shop provided fuel, so the fire blazed high, touching the sky, penguins here and there running to safety, but just making things worse. The team had now been blown off their feet, and when they stood back up, another explosion. They saw fire coming from the trees on the right, and behind them, the Clock Tower had been incinerated, bits of the tower flung off, absolutely squashing the Snow Forts to a pile of snowy mess. The team ran around past the Clock Tower, and then the Stage said its final goodbye before being engulfed in flames, shortly followed by the Pet Shop and the Pizza Parlour, which caught the flame chain. Then the Puffle logo on the side of the Pet Shop caught alight, hitting the side of the Pet Shop, and bouncing in to the forest, which set all the trees on fire, lighting each other, which proved great fuel for the fire. The bridge to the Cove set alight, stopping any people from getting back across, leaving them trapped. The Cove Surf Hut caught on fire so easily as if it was melting, everything was so hot, when you looked in to the distance, and you got the heat-wave wobbly thing near the ground. Then the Lighthouse exploded and the remaining glass shattered in the sea and all over the Beach, setting some trees on fire. The Hydrohopper Boat exploded and with the force it flew backwards and pulled the rope it was tied on so it came off, and then the boat glided in to sea, and then sunk down without any arguments.
In the distance, the Dojo burst in to flames very easily, and soon it had flattened in to the ground, followed by the Ski Lodge and the Sports Shop.
The whole island had been flattened, trees were squashed but a bit of fuel for fire echoed out of them, so fire still remained across the island. Club Penguin had become a ghost-town, only a few penguins dared to walk its streets, only to see the full damage. Possibly two thousand penguins dead and the approximate fifty survivors escaped to their igloos, the only place they were safe. The people who were walking the streets couldn’t get from a to b without standing on at least fifty bodies.
I stood at Rockhopper Island, and I had just watched the biggest mess in Club Penguin history.
Oh ooh! What will happen, in The Rift 3!? Heh. - Dazzozo. | |
